We use a network of 2002 pro and premier versions at the company office. I use one copy on my desktop and laptop to support this (and another 2 copanies) at home. I have now decided to upgrade and opted for 2005 in the absence of the new database engine in 2006. In order to check that the new VAT routines are ok etc, as they have been rewritten since 2002, I bought a single copy of 2005 accountant and installed it on my laptop for safety in a new directory. After activation I tried to install it also on my desktop assuming that I could use the same activation key as I have done in the past but it doesnt work as the product keys are slightly different. I know that the use of the same copy on two machines is dodgy but i only use one at a time and in single user mode so feel reasonably innocent. Do I now have to buy a second copy or would the activation system accept the two product codes with the same activation key?
Eventually I will upgrade all the systems and companies by buying a 5 pack of 2005 PRO but Im not ready to do that yet.
